Lumínico is a multidisciplinary experience of sound, virtuoso live performance and visual images that immerse the “listener-viewer” in an artistic experience. Renowned Mexican musician Alejandro Escuer, electroacoustic composer Rodrigo Sigal and audio-visual artist José Luis Garcia Nava create highly unique and original performances using new audio-visual technologies, wind instruments and percussion. Lumínico won the National Prize for the Performing Arts Mexico En Escena from Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes.
The repertoire of Lumínico draws from hundreds of sound and video sources, integrating photography, pre-recorded video, real-time image, electronic and electroacoustic music combined with live improvisation, contemporary concert music, and classical and folk styles. Lumínico performances aspire to engage audiences on an experiential level with the possibility to connect consciousness with perception, intuition with rationality and redefine the notions of a live concert. The use of widely ranging musical styles reflects an appreciation of cultural diversity, opening eyes and ears to tolerance and understanding. Lumínico includes works by Rodrigo Sigal, Alejandro Escuer, José Luis Garcia Nava, Gabriela Ortiz, Jacob TV, and others.
